Mutton Bustin' and Other Children's Activities Mutton bustin' is a children's event. The objective is for children to hang on and have fun. In some communities, the contestant who rides the sheep the farthest is awarded a buckle. In others, everyone receives a prize for participating, so that there are no winners or losers. Contestants in this event must wear a helmet. Most choose to wear hockey helmets.
