Gus Lecaine

1940 -

    Gus Lecaine is the youngest son of John and Christina (Lecaine)Okute. His best memories of school are of racing across the prairie on the way home. He was told not to race his horse, but like other small boys he tested his horse as soon as he was out of sight. He and his cousin Clifford would race past Billy Brown's place and Billy would shout, "Go fast!"

Gus Lecaine

   Gus Lecaine has lived on his father's homestead most of his life. He has sometimes rented his farm land and
other times farmed it himself. Many years he worked for other farmers off the reserve for the use of their machinery. He used to have a few horses but he no longer keeps any.
    In the winter he works at various native crafts, including the production of authentic war clubs. Gus created a model hayrack for the "Legends of Our Times" exhibit.
