Métis artist Rosalie Favell is a well-known photographer whose work has appeared in more than a dozen solo exhibitions and more than twenty group exhibitions in venues stretching from Glasgow, Scotland to Santiago, Chile. A graduate of Ryerson Polytechnic Institute in Toronto, Ms. Favell holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque and has received numerous awards for her work from institutions across Canada. A noted lecturer based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Ms. Favell has presented lectures and workshops to conferences, galleries and arts organizations and has served on the juries of a number of gallery selection committees. Deeply involved in the Aboriginal arts community, Ms. Favell has served as a board member at the Floating Gallery Centre for Photography in Winnipeg and the Original Women's Network: a Native Women's Resource Centre. She participated in the planning and production of an event publication for the 1991 Aboriginal Cultural Society — Mother Earth's People Pow Wow and Environmental Gathering. Ms. Favell's works can be found in the collections of the Winnipeg Art Gallery and Mount Saint Vincent University in Nova Scotia, as well as in a number of private collections.
