Mary Anne Barkhouse is a multidisciplinary artist working primarily in the fields of sculpture, jewellery and art installations. She has participated in nearly twenty group exhibitions across Canada and in New York City, including Lichen (Toronto, 1999), Staking Land Claims (Banff, 1997) and AlterNative Contemporary Photo Compositions (Ottawa, 1996). Her work has also graced the covers of a number of publications, including Writing as Witness: Essay and Talk and Brother to Nationhood, and she is an accomplished illustrator of children's literature.

Born in Vancouver in 1961, Ms. Barkhouse is a member of the Nimpkish Kwakiutl. A graduate of the Ontario College of Art, she has won numerous awards and grants for her sculpture and art installations. Her work can be found in the collections of the Thunder Bay Art Gallery, the Walter Phillips Gallery and the University of British Columbia and in the Indian Art Collection of the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development.
