Zentkala (Little Bird/ Willie Harold Thomson)
1906-1988
Willie Thomson, the son of Iha Wastewin and James Thomson, was born at Wood Mountain. Riding came natural to Willie as did gentling horses.
As a young man he worked for many different ranchers at Wood Mountain. In 1928 he married Ida Mergel and they rented several different places before acquiring their own land.
Willie was a craftsman, making his own ropes, horsehair haltars, and hackamores. He was also inventive. A fork tine became a lether punch; an old boot top became a staple bag. Everything was recyled and put to good use on his ranch. More than anything Willie liked to break horses, especially roping horses. He had a special relationship with
