(Chain Lightning/George "Puncher" Thomson)

1898 - 1986

Puncher Thomson was the fifth son of Iha Wastewin and James Thomson. He was born at Wood Mountain and lived there until the late 1960's when he went Alberta. Even then he always returned for the Wood Mountain Stampede.  Puncher was a skilled horseman and roper, often winning prize money in the races and roping at local rodeos.
He eventually purchased the site of the NWMP Post at Wood Mountain and built an adobe house under the maple trees. Besides raising a few cattle he worked out as a cowboy for ranchers in the area. As a hobby he made model wagons and sleds. All his life he was interested in music and he played the fiddle for country dances and house parties.
