 
Taleelajuq This sculpture presents another chapter of Taleelajuq's story. She rejects all her suitors until she is seduced by the enchanting song of a stranger. He takes her away to a distant land where she discovers that he is a fulmar, a seabird. A year later, Taleelajuq's father pays her a visit, and she begs him to take her home. The fulmar becomes aware of their flight and produces a terrible storm. Terrified, the father throws his daughter overboard. As Taleelajuq clings to the boat, he cuts off her fingers, and they turn into sea mammals. She sinks to the bottom of the sea and becomes the much-feared sea goddess who controls all the animals.    |
