How They Hunted Caribou Inland The story behind this sculpture has been told by Saali Arngnaituk: "This is the way it is traditionally. These ones are going after caribou inland on foot. They walked far away, that being the way they worked. They were courageous enough to go afar when all they had for clothing from the sea to the interior was the skins of the caribou. The man and wife had only that for clothing. They had no kayak, but some others did." (Zebedee Nungak and Eugene Y. Arima, Inuit Stories - Povungnituk) |
