Painted in 1840, this painting portrays the features that made Quebec City the linchpin of the British presence in Canada— powerful fortifications and a secure harbour. Quebec City, Canada’s Atlantic port, served as the point of entry for reinforcements and supplies from Britain to Lower and Upper Canada.
