Canadian artist

Nicol Macleod, Pegi (1904-1949)

On the strength of her figure-painting skills, the National Gallery of Canada commissioned MacLeod to paint the activities of the women's services in Ottawa in 1944 and 1945. One of the best known of the young women artists of the thirties, the post-war enthusiasm for abstraction diminished her reputation.
