Inuvik-Inuit Circumpolar Conference, 1992

There always seems to be something special happening in Inuvik. In 1992 the Inuit Circumpolar Conference was held in Inuvik. Delegations from Greenland, Canada, Alaska and Siberia gathered to discuss questions of mutual concern. The (Mackenzie) Delta Drummers and Dancers entertained during the week-long event.

Gwich'in dancers from Fort MacPherson joined in the festivities and took to the stage to everyone's delight.

Kashtin, an internationally acclaimed Innu (Montagnais from the lower north shore of the St.Lawrence River) band, put on a show to remember. Luckily, we were in town for this very special concert.

Even the Canadian Armed Forces aerobatic team, the "Snowbirds" (431 Sqn), got into the act, flying their Canadair CT-114 Tutor jet trainers through a wonderful array of formations and aerobatics over the Mackenzie River and the town of Inuvik.
