		Copper Inuit, so-called by their heavy use of native copper gathered along the lower Coppermine River and Coronation Gulf, are an offshoot of Thule Inuit. They made copper arrow and spear heads, ulus blades, knives, staples for mending cracked soapstone pots, etc. They were first documented in the early twentieth century when they resided on the coast. As they were believed to originate in Thule culture, later investigations on their origins were confined to the coast, with no success.
