| Men, women and children all wore the same style of moccasin, which were made from tanned buffalo, elk, moose, and deer hides. Later, cowhides were used. Hides were either white or smoked, the choice depending on the purpose of the moccasins. Dyed porcupine quills and paint adorned moccasins before the introduction of seed beads. Everyday moccasins were left plain, while decorated ones were used for special occasions. |
